Relax and get rewarded

Relax, everything is fine

A relaxed mind conquers all. – Murli Chari

With a constant flurry of thoughts playing havoc with our being it is difficult to focus on the most important task at hand. A relaxed mind creates magic. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we are unable to reach the apogee of glory. A relaxed mind enhances the capability and competence of our mind to work effectively. A muddled mind messes up everything and creates stress and chaos. Imagine a plethora of controls a pilot has to handle while flying a plane. He has to be very relaxed to handle complex procedures as the lives of hundreds are in his hands. If we are perturbed, stressed up, confused lacking clarity we are not in a relaxed mode which is the key to great and resounding success. A chaotic and stressed mind presses the panic buttons too soon resulting in disaster and ominous consequences. On the other hand, the adage “Relax, everything is fine” enhances our ability to do wonders. Cool calm and composed cures crisis. Many disasters can be averted if we remain relaxed as that makes us intrepid. When we are relaxed many of the problems can be solved. Ideas come gushing. A relaxed mind gets done humongous tasks quickly which a disturbed mind takes hours. Whenever we notice stress cropping up, we must reassure ourselves by saying “Relax, everything is fine.” It is ubiquitous to see many of the offices fitted with air conditioners as that keeps us relaxed when the situation frays our nerves making us concerned for frivolous issues. Swami Sukhabodhananda wrote a legendary book “Mind, Relax”. Reading that book would make you understand the supreme importance of remaining relaxed. The virtue of remaining relaxed is humongous. Remaining relaxed throughout the day is as good as meditation. It is beneficial for all. “Relax, everything is fine” is not mere wishful thinking but a pearl of pragmatic wisdom. It helps in keeping under reins the adrenalin rush which makes us fight or flight approach a zilch. Being relaxed keeps our expectations low as huge expectations lead to stress and frustration.

Being relaxed even under extremely precarious situations can save our lives.

While driving an automobile there may arise many situations where we have to remain relaxed or else, we may push the panic buttons and end up in a tragic accident. We need to keep our minds relaxed in ominous situations as it is a question of life and death. In a provocative and grim situation, a relaxed attitude can do wonders. Being flexible has many benefits as it can earn us good relationships and affluence. A relaxed mind creates brilliant ideas and makes us gentlemen. There are many sports that require a relaxed mind. An agitated mind causes tension and frustration. There are many provocative circumstances where only a relaxed mind can do wonders. We need to teach children to keep their calm while writing an examination. An agitated mind puts phenomenal pressure on our mind making us forget even the easiest of knowledge.

A classic example is of the near triple century partnership between Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman when asked to follow on in a test match between Australia and India at Kolkatta. Bjorn Borg the champion tennis player was known for his relaxed attitude while facing the opponent in many important matches. He virtually pulled off miraculous victories. One more example of relaxed batting was that of the ace Indian allrounder the maverick Kapil Dev who scored an incredible 175 not out against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup when India was tottering at 17 for 5. In a one-day cricket match, Yuvraj and Mohd Kaif pulled off a miraculous victory when India was struggling at 149 for 5 chasing a target of 300 plus runs. Dr. Manmohan Singh pulled off a miracle when he was facing a no-confidence motion when a bill had to be passed on the nuclear treaty. Amitabh Bachchan was in dire straits when his venture into beauty contest nose-dived. He literally rose like a phoenix from the ashes. He got a break in Kaun Banega Karodpati and the rest is unparalleled history. The Wright Brothers and Thomas Edison are well-known for their relaxed attitude which carried them through.
